For The Gourmet Cheesecake Lollipops by Chef David Burke

Fine Wine - Zinfandel

2009 Deep Purple Zinfandel Lodi Red California Wine 750ml - $10.99

87 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine, September 2011 "While Lodi Zinfandel is more often than not cast in a fat, fairly ripe style, this supple, nicely composed middleweight shows a lighter touch and features bright, berry-like fruit set against a wee hint of oak. It makes no claim to complexity, but it is tasty and true to the grape, and it comes with a price tag that makes it go down all the easier yet for near-term enjoyment."

2012 Armida Poizin Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley Red California Wine 750ml - $22.99

"Deep, dark garnet in color, the bright nose exhibits plums, raspberry and blackberries. The rich, complex flavors of black cherry, anise, spicy strawberry, and red currants include darker notes of chocolate, coffee and clove spice. The Petite Sirah in the blend contributes black pepper, mocha, caramel and cedar, and gives this wine a rustic personality. The moderate oak contributes subtle vanilla and a smoky nuance. The tannins are substantial, yet still supple and velvety." -The Winery

2008 Dry Creek Vineyard Heritage Clone Zinfandel Red California Wine 750ml - $19.99

89 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine, January 2011 "Nicely crafted, genuinely juicy blackberryish fruit buttressed by suggestions of caramelly oak makes the early going here, and the wine follows on the palate with medium-full and slightly fleshy impressions. There is enough underlying acidity to keep the proceedings alive, but this one impresses as an open, drink now wine."

2011 Rancho Zabaco Zinfandel Heritage Vines Red California Wine 750ml - $14.99

"The Sonoma Heritage Vines Zin delivers an abundance of black fruit and spice aromas, demonstrating the classic and distinctive characteristics of Zinfandel. The soft, plummy, and jammy flavors and textures make this wine not only approachable, but also versatile, allowing it to be paired with a wide range of foods." -The Winery

Recanati Petite Sirah-Zinfandel Reserve Kosher For Passover 750ml - $30.99

Rating for a previous vintage: 88 Points - Wine Advocate, December 2010 "...80% Petite Sirah, the rest Zinfandel, aged for 8 months in American oak. This is always a fun-to-drink wine in Recanati's lineup. I think I had a preference for the last version reviewed, but this is pretty nice, too. It manages to be bright and gripping, elegant in the mid-palate and keep the oak well under control. It develops a little character with air, more than I thought it had. It always has a bit more tannin that you think on first taste and enough of a backbone to support some aging in the cellar. I think it will still show better young given the balance between tannin and fruit (and when I've gone back to older versions, 5 years or so seems about right for safety), but it is well enough constructed so that it always has a chance of hanging on if you like wines with some maturity. Drink now-2016." -Mark Squires
